Featured Story
After returning from a summer teaching in Hanoi, Vietnam in 2003, I experienced a devastating decline in health. Physically, I experienced dramatic weight loss (65 pounds in 3 months), developed severe food and chemical sensitivities and sudden rashes on my body and face. I had persistent digestive issues, chronic pain and constipation and gallbladder dysfunction. I experienced malabsorption, malnutrition, dysmenorrhea, migraines, severe brain fog, and insomnia. I was physically exhausted at all hours of the day but when I tried to sleep, my body would jolt awake in panicked state. Emotionally, I battled with debilitating anxiety, panic attacks and paranoia that left me immobilized, traumatized and desperate for answers.
After seeing over a dozen doctors and specialists, the allopathic medical model had failed me. I was told I was at a healthy weight for my height (ignoring the dramatic short-term weight loss on no attempt of my own), and blood work that would all come back “normal”. I was even abused and openly mocked by two different doctors when I needed help the most. At the end of a year’s worth of appointments not only did I still have no answers, but my health continued to decline. At 20 years old, I was on a grocery bag full of prescription drugs that were all competing to mask symptoms. No one could tell me WHY I had suddenly started experiencing all of these issues!
At this time, a friend introduced me to natural medicine and I began obsessively reading and researching to literally save my own life. There were no herbs, vitamins, detoxes, or therapies I didn’t try. It was an 8 year process of trial and error on my own until finally felt like I had my life back.
As I began to heal, my passion and work led me to coaching others through the health food industry, and as a supplement buyer for Whole Foods Market where I started a program called “Wellness Wednesday” that invited local practitioners to speak for free to the customers. Through those relationships, I went on to work with some of the best Naturopathic Doctors, Chiropractors and clinics this side of the country. Formally, I went on to earn a masters’ degree in Complementary and Alternative Medicine from the American College of Healthcare Sciences as well as a Board Certification in Colon Hydrotherapy.
Through my experiences, education and mentoring, I was able to overcome trauma related brain dysfunction, chronic mold illness, intestinal parasites, MCAS, MCS, skin issues, gallstones, liver disease and much more. I strongly believe it is the Lord who led me through to this place of healing to be able to help many others who are suffering get back to finding their true selves! I will forever be grateful for my new life and am passionate about showing others the way out of chronic illness, anxiety and suffering.
Sometimes it is not enough to throw a bunch of pills at deficiencies or do a boxed cleanse or juice fast every once in a while. For many of us struggling with chronic illness or “mysterious” illness, we need tools and a PLAN that address the root causes of our illness in the right steps, with the right support.
If you’ve tried it all, or you’re ready for real, lasting results…maybe it’s time for something new? Schedule a consult today!
Sara Scott
Sara’s story and her dedication to the community and helping others achieve optimal health is both harrowing and inspirational. It’s also a testament to how taking a holistic approach to health and wellness can help you to achieve optimal health, vitality, and drastically impact your quality of life. Obviously, there are diseases and conditions that it’s most appropriate to seek the assistance of traditional medicine, but there are times like in Sara’s case that traditional medicine does not or cannot help you, or it will only take you so far. There are also times where studies reflect the toxicity or health risks of certain products we use on a daily basis that the mainstream health community or establishment has not caught up to recognizing their negative impact to our health. Sara’s field and expertise focuses on both preventative lifestyle habits through diet and choice of consumer products as well as addressing conditions and symptoms of toxicity and cleansing those toxicities and rebalancing your body’s systems. A wellness appointment with her feels like you just sat down with someone who cares about you to the core and listens and asks questions to really take in the full picture of the challenges you face. That’s followed up with a full breakdown of her assessment and recommendations to address your specific concerns as well as a follow up appointment to assess your progress and make any necessary tweaks to her recommendations. Sara’s approach is the opposite of that feeling you get when seeking a doctor of traditional medicine who only looks through their narrow lens of expertise and you’re treated more like a number than a person who only has a couple minutes of their time. If you are looking to optimizing your health, addressing pesky conditions that maybe you don’t think rate the highest of concern that would lead you to seek traditional medicine, or traditional medicine has not been able to help you, I strongly recommend you schedule an appointment to see her. Follow her on FB new life wellness coaching - Search Results | Facebook where she periodically will advertise sales on services she offers as well as wellness tips. Thank you for what you do Sara!
